Design and construction of this embassy compound represented one of Caddell’s greatest challenges to date in executing unique fine finishes in the exterior/interior of the main office building. Almost all of the walls and ceilings in the main building’s atrium are curved and with irregular cut-outs and frames for interior windows and ledges. This required highly skilled drywall artists to achieve this unique design. Finishes include terrazzo floors, custom metal grids in the ceilings, a steel and glass main staircase, and multi-colored metal panels throughout. The exterior features a the great seal of the United States, crafted in Portugal, shipped in pieces, and reassembled and installed at the site.
