Project Scope

Both exterior and interior finishes at the Matthew J. Perry, Jr. U.S. Courthouse are of the highest quality and demanded meticulous attention to detail.  Highlights include the first floor lobby with granite and slate flooring in a circular pattern; massive  custom-forged massive bronze doors surmounted by a perfect limestone pediment; eight hand-carved medallions that adorn courtroom walls by master carver, Curtis Whittington; a 40-foot custom wrought-iron courtyard entrance rail handcrafted by master ironworker, Phillip Simmons; extraordinary mahogany millwork throughout for doors, courtrooms, cornices, and rails; bronze elevator doors; massive granite Doric columns; a central dome and skylight; custom Axminister carpets in all of the courtrooms;  elaborate plasterwork; and Class-5 drywall throughout.  It is truly a modern masterpiece in a traditional/classical vernacular.
