Project Scope

The James K. Polk Center, containing 760,000 SF, consists of five major elements: a music hall, a drama theater, a multiform theater, and a 31-story glass-covered tower with offices for state agencies.  The building’s frame is a concrete core with 11 pairs of posttensioned covers supporting 22 steel trusses and hanging columns.  The exterior skin of the tower is glass.  Construction involved 35,000 cubic yards of concrete and 6,220 tons of structural steel.
