The Matthew J. Perry, Jr. U.S. Courthouse is the only federal courthouse named for a living individual, and was the first to incorporate force protection into its design. The courthouse exterior consists of brick veneer with a concrete backup wall, limestone trim, curtain wall, and punched ballistic windows. The three main levels have lobby floors of granite and slate, wood wainscots, and pilasters. There are eight courtrooms which feature top-quality custom carpeting and millwork. The U.S. Marshal Service manages a main cellblock, and various court floor holding and prisoner movement corridors. The lower level provides two separate parking areas and storage. $42.1M
