Spallation Neutron Source Project at Oak Ridge
National Laboratory
Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Caddell, in joint venture with Blaine Construction of Knoxville, Tennessee, has completed three cutting-edge facilities for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory -- this agency’s largest contract award since the World War II-era Manhattan Project.

The Target Building has been awarded major national construction excellence awards including the ABC 2005 Excellence in Construction Eagle Award, and the
AGC Build America Award.

The neutron-scattering research conducted at the SNS facility will have applications to telecommunications, manufacturing, transportation, information technology, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals, and will be
available to users worldwide.

Power Systems Testing &
Development Facility
Wilsonville, Alabama

Caddell has provided a wide range of
equipment erection services for a unique
cutting-edge power systems development
and testing facility developed through a
partnership between the U.S. Department
of Energy, the Southern Company, and
various power industry equipment vendors.
The sophisticated R&D complex is
exploring new coal gasification
technologies designed to increase
the efficiency, cleanliness, and economic
viability of coal-based power.

Caddell has logged well over 1,000,000 MHs at
the Wilsonville facility with ZERO lost-time
accidents.

Continuous Electron Beam
Accelerator Facility (CEBAF)
Project
Newport News, Virginia

This complex project involved
construction of an underground
closed loop tunnel with ancillary
buildings for the CEBAF linear
accelerator. The scope of work encompassed excavation of an
open trench to construct approximately
4,600 LF of 10 ft. x 13.5 ft. rectangular concrete tunnel. Caddell also
completed construction of 16 steel-framed single-story structures ranging
in size from 210 SF to 13,000 SF.
